Neighborhood Driving: (crawl) Discussion
about steering wheel. What commands to perform with steering wheel when
making turn & curves. Practice turns in neighborhood, and then
venture out to lightly traveled roadways.
City Driving: (walk) Recap
on previous lessons. Then travel to places you will be traveling to
frequently such as workplace, market place, friends & family.
Travel thru central business district (CBD) areas of metropolitan area.
Highway Driving (run) Recap
on previous lesson. Then practice traveling on highways that run through the city with numerous intersections. Afterwards practice on
limited access highways such as the interstate or expressway.
Practice how to merge on, traveling down, an exit the interstate highway (or expressway).
Behind-the-Wheel
6 hours (Beginner driver 17 year old & Older)
6
hour Behind-the-Wheel lesson consists of 3/2 hour lessons. A "Crawl,
walk, Run" teaching technique is used to coincide with the beginner's
experience behind-the-wheel (which is usually minimal to none).
An
evaluation form is completed for beginners to know what their strong
and weak driving points are to help them when they venture off on their
on.
8 hrs (15 & 16 yr olds)
8 hour Behind-the-wheel lessons consist of 4/2 hr lessons. Teenage drivers also receive an evaluation form for their parents to continue training their teenagers where the driving school lessons left-off at. Form lists driving situations covered and strong and weak points of their teenage driver. Driving tips and advice also accompany the form.
Numerous
traffic situations around the New Orleans metropolitan area are
presented to a licensed driver to test that driver's knowledge of the
road to determine if that driver qualifies for a discount on their auto
insurance. If the driver scores less than 80% after the evaluation the
driver can take an additional 4 hours behind-the-wheel to acquire the
certificate needed to present to their auto insurance agent to receive
a discount on their auto insurance rate.
Numerous
traffic situations around the New Orleans metropolitan area are
presented to a licensed driver (of any age or driving experience) to
test that driver's knowledge of the road. The evaluation is centered
around driving situations and conditions the licensed driver wasn't
taught because driver's education wasn't required by law when they
applied for their driver's license. The evaluation provides driver
education the licensed driver never received, and probably never
would've receive if the evaluation wasn't taken.
2 hours-Evaluation (Senior Citizen)
Identify
individual driver's strong points and weak points to develop
counter-measures to prolong driving, since each driver ages
differently. 4 hour classroom after driving evaluation discusses
specific counter-measures in detail.
CLASSROOM
6 hour Pre-licensing Course (17 year olds & older) classroom
State required course covers traffic laws, safe driving practices, signs, signals and pavement markings. 80% score required on test for certificate to apply for driver's license at DMV.
30 hour Pre-licensing Course (15 & 16 year olds) classroom
State required course for 15 & 16 year olds. Classroom curriculum covers traffic laws, safe driving practices, signs, signals and pavement markings. 80% score required on test for certificate to apply for learner's permit at DMV.
Curriculum covers 25 most common traffic offenses committed on the road today by drivers, and why they're used by so many drivers. Certificate of completion for court is presented upon successful completion
Defensive Driving Course II, III, & IV (Extensive) 4 hour classroom
3 voluntary courses designed for licensed drivers of any age group or driving experience. Courses cover driver education information not received by licensed drivers when driving license was applied for because it wasn't required at time of application. Course curriculum is specifically designed with driving education information that drivers never knew existed. Check with auto insurance agent about any possible discounts on auto rates for successful completion of course.
Curriculum covers 25 worst driving intersections in the New Orleans metropolitan area and how to counter them. Curriculum also covers the top 25 traffic safety problems being performed by drivers today.
DUI/DWI Course - 6 hour & 4 hour classroom
Curriculum covers alcohol's affects on the brain at different BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) levels, and how much alcohol is contained in different amounts of different types of alcoholic beverages. The course educates licensed drivers on fines and penalties for drinking and driving. Many of the DUI attorneys may even suggest you attend this course prior to your court date. Certificate presented upon successful completion.
Senior Citizen Course - 4 hours classroom
Curriculum is customized for an individual driver's needs, since driver's age differently. 2 hour behind-the-wheel evaluation precedes the classroom to pinpoint specific driving education information needed by senior-driver.
